Here is the plan for Saturday's hike to see the wildflowers at White Oak Sinks (@5 miles round-trip):
Meet Catherine at the Bi-Lo on Alcoa Hwy at 9:30 a.m. - the one in the Lakemont area on the right (going south) behind the Pilot Station, and just before the huge Sevier Heights Baptist Church on the left.
We will also do a second, shorter meet-up at the old Bi-lo in Maryville at 10 a.m.
Please let myself or Catherine know if you plan to hike, and also contact Catherine for directions to either location (crawley.catherine@gmail.com or 406-4219).
Here are some photos that Corinne and Linda took on yesterday's hike along Porter's Creek.
Also, here is a nice video about widflowers in the Smokies for those of you who would like to experience it virtually.
Want to see wildflowers? Join Catherine as she leads the Striders to White Oak sinks on Saturday August 25! Details to follow.
April 4th - short dayhike (still early for wildflowers) to House Mountain or Seven Islands. Dogs are allowed both places.
April 18 - Linda will lead us to Porter's Creek (7 miles roundtrip).
April 25 - Catherine will lead us to White Oak sinks again. Last year we went in the back way, and I am not sure of the mileage but it's on the short side. It's also possible to get there via Chestnut Tops or Schoolhouse Gap trails. Either way we'll see many wildflowers there.
